Yu Darvish helped to drive the Hokkaido-Ham Fighters to victory against the Chiba Lotte Marines on Wednesday (August 31st).
The talented pitcher was credited with bringing the team their second win in the last eight games they have played.
However, Darvish was modest about the role he played in the 6-1 victory at QVC Marine Field.
He told the Japan Times: "My balls weren't bad but I couldn't locate them to where I really wanted, so it was difficult.
"But my teammates gave me some run support effectively and that took some pressure of my back."
The 24-year-old has hit a single-season high not seen since 2008, after he took his 16th win of the season against four losses.
"Who I am today is completely different from who I was back in 2008. So it doesn't mean much," he told the news provider.
Darvish's first professional debut was in June 2005 for his current team and among his career highlights was grasping the Eiji Sawamura Award in 2007.
