In further news that suggests Japanese tourism appears to be getting back on its feet,
Tokyo Disneyland has announced that it will be re-opening later this week.
The Yomiuri Shimbun reports that the family resort in Urayasu, Chiba Prefecture, will open its doors on Friday (April 15th), although due to electricity shortages it will bring its normal daily closing time forward to 6pm, local time.
Hotels in the region are expected to re-open gradually after this announcement, industry sources told the local newspaper.
However, Oriental Land, which operates
Tokyo Disneyland, has decided to postpone re-opening
Tokyo Disney Sea, an adjacent amusement part, until the end of April at the earliest.
Senior officials at the company were reported as saying that some parts of
Tokyo Disneyland's car park were damaged during the March 11th earthquake, but there was no major damage to the amusement park itself.
