UFC to expand into Japan
The Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) is set to increase its exposure in Japan.

It is hoped that two new media deals will encourage more people in Japan to become fans of the sport.

UFC officials have confirmed that the championship's official mobile site will now be available on all three major Japanese mobile networks following an agreement with TV Bank Corp. While, a further deal with Hikari TV means that live and archived bouts will be accessible via internet television.

"Today is a very important step in expanding our media platforms to bring the UFC to more Japanese fans than ever before," explained Mark Fischer, UFC executive vice-president and managing director of Asia

"We want to make sure that any fan who wants to watch the UFC has the best access they can and, at the same time, reach new fans."

UFC sees competitors compete in mixed martial art fights and has grown significantly in popularity since its launch in 2001.
