This month sees one of the biggest
sumo wrestling events in Japan take place in
Tokyo. Despite being called the September Basho, the event takes from November 14th to 28th at Kokugikan
Sumo Hall.
Spectators will be able to witness some of the country's finest
sumo wrestlers demonstrate their ancient sport which consists of more than 70 different trips and throws, reports whatsonwhen.com.
Those looking for the best seats in the house should ask to sit near the dohyo (ring), although these are highly sought after so prior booking is advisable.
Tickets for the events range from 200 yen for children between the ages of four and 15, up to 2,000 yen (£1.30) for adults.
As one of Japan's oldest sports,
sumo is steeped in history and ceremony.
Only the most skilled combatants have the change of earning the title Yokuzuna (grand champion).
