Japanese football team 'gaining confidence'
The coach of Japan's national football team believes they are growing in confidence and could win the Asian Cup.

Alberto Zaccheroni stressed that despite an uncertain start to the competition; the players have now succeeded in reaching the Asian Cup quarter-finals and are planning well.

Japan beat three-times champions Saudi Arabia 5-0 to finish top of their group. They will now face the home nation of Qatar. Last time the two teams met in the Asian Cup in 2007 the match ended in a 1-1 draw.

"We have lagged behind other teams in preparation. To catch up with them, I hope to help the team develop themselves at this tournament," said Mr Zaccheroni.

The former AC Milan boss added:"We did better in the second match than in the opener and we did better in the third than in the second. I'm glad to see the team growing like that."

The final of the Asian Cup is set to be held on January 29th at the Khalifa Stadium.
