Hawaiian Airlines has confirmed the introduction of a new direct service from Honolulu to Haneda Airport in
Tokyo. The carrier believes the new flight will boost tourism and meet the demand for more services between the two countries.
Mark Dunkerley, Hawaiian Airlines's president and chief executive officer, explained: "We have devoted months of planning and preparation into our new Haneda service and added some special touches that will make travel to Hawaii an even more enjoyable experience."
Hawaiian Airlines is also adding a number of new Airbus A330s and A350s to its fleet in order to further expand into the Asian holiday market and plans new flights from Honolulu to Seoul-Incheon in South Korea by the start of 2011.
Haneda Airport is developing into a key travel hub for travellers to Japan due to its proximity to
Tokyo and the recent improvements to the airport's facilities.
The airport's new international terminal opened in October and now welcomes services from a number of major cities including London, Paris and New York.
