Tourists heading to Japan on holiday can now benefit from a new express train service from Narita International Airport, which could get them to downtown Tokyo in as little as 36 minutes.

The new Narita Sky Access opened over the weekend and boasts trains with a top speed of 100 miles per hour. The journey from the airport to the centre of Tokyo usually takes nearly an hour but the new service can cut this time by around 15 minutes.

Running from Nippori station in downtown Tokyo directly to the airport, which can be found in the Chiba prefecture, the train has eight cars and is operated by the Keisei Electric Railway Co.

Those arriving in Japan by international flight will generally land at Narita International and all Japan Airlines flights use this transport hub, though some flights from overseas do use Haneda. Most domestic journeys are handled by Haneda, which is less than nine miles away from Tokyo.
