Japanese golfer aims to be world number one
Japanese golfer Ai Miyazato is aiming to become the world's best female golfer after another winning weekend.

Over this weekend (May 1st and 2nd) the player won her fourth US Tour trophy at the Tres Marias Championship. It was her third win of the season and she is now focusing on competing in the upcoming World Ladies Championship.

Speaking to Japan Times reporters at Japan's Narita airport, she said: "I'm not going to be fixated on back-to-back wins. I will just try to focus on preparing myself well for the major."

Miyazato also said that her goal for this golf season is to win Player of the Year. She noted that should she be victorious in this contest, she is likely to move into the top player spot.

The golfer's rookie year was 2006 and she first turned professional in 2003. She has played in tournaments including the Japan Women's Open Golf Championship, the Mizuno Classic and the Women's World Cup.
