United through to tournament final after 8-goal thriller in Japan
Manchester United have made it through to the final of the Club World Cup Final after defeating Gamba Osaka 5-3 in a classic encounter.

There were goals aplenty from United stars Nemanja Vidic, Christiano Ronaldo, Darren Fletcher and Scouser Wayne Rooney.

Gamba Osaka fought back, however, scoring three goals past United goalkeeper Edwin Van der Sar.

The match saw six goals being scored in the space of just 17 breathless minutes.

United boss Sir Alex Ferguson said he thought his team deserved to be in the final.

"It was a terrific match, an amazing game, the people got their money's worth," he commented, adding: "The football from both teams was very good. For me Edwin Van der Sar was our best player, his saves helped secure the victory for us."

United, whose popularity is arguably greater around the world than it is at home, received a rapturous welcome from football fans in Japan. ADNFCR-1445-ID-18937489-ADNFCR
