Volunteer for Japan

3 Nights: TBC (excluding international flights)
The world watched with horror as the events of 11th March played out live on the news networks and the extent of the damage in the affected regions is hard to comprehend. This 4 day package is your chance to contribute to rebuilding shattered lives in this beautiful region of Japan.

We are excited to offer a 4 day volunteering tour to Tohoku. This project is run in collaboration with a voluntary organisation, RQ Citizens Disaster Relief Network Japan (RQ-CNJ). The package includes transport from Tokyo, accommodation, meals, equipment and the help of an English speaking assistant throughout.

Project volunteers will assist with various cleaning tasks alongside local Japanese. You may be asked to clean and restore damaged houses and schools, shovel rubble from roads or clear parks and rice paddies. It will be hard, manual labour so please be sure that you are up to the task. However at a time like this, every little helps and your contribution will certainly be valuable to the people of Tohoku.

The gigantic earthquake triggered destructive tsunami waves of up to 38 metres. That's the height of a 14-storey building. Some waves travelled up to 10km inland sweeping away houses, schools and other buildings as well as thousands of people. There are still more than 11,000 evacuees who cannot return to their homes.

Please call us today for more information. We hope to help you, help Tohoku

Supporting Disaster Relief

If you are unable to travel to Japan to volunteer, please consider supporting our Tsunami Relief Fund. Since the week of the disaster InsideJapan Tours has been supporting Japanese NGO Civic Force by raising funds through Just Giving. We are still short of our initial goal of £25,000 so if you are able to, please donate. It will take many years to rebuild this region so every donation is important.
