The ryokan accomodation was excellent and if possible I would choose that over standard hotels every time.

Jocelyn arranged my trip again - this is my 2nd with Inside Japan. As before I found her to be extremely helpful and knowledgeable and brilliant at suggesting things wed like.

I cant thank Jocelyn enough and also I think Simon and someone in the Japan office too who arranged a quick move from Naoshima to Kyoto for an extra night at short notice.

We stated at Yamaichi Bekkan on Miyajima which was fantastic and the food was amazing. Very hospitable and we were quite sad when we left. Also the Yudanaka Ryokan was great - fantastic service and amazing food. The monkeys were pretty cool too. Really enjoyed Hiroshima and the ABomb museum as have wanted to visit for many years and found it very moving. Fuji Rock was great as Paul is a minor celebrity in Japan it seems!

I love Japan and have Japanese friends - theyve been very impressed at the expertise of Inside Japan. My daughter is just beginning a degree in Japanese so Ill need to go and see her whilst shes there so Ill definitely be back and would definitely use you again.

We knew we could trust InsideJapan to make sure that our holiday went smoothly they took away the stress of booking such an activity packed trip, leaving us more time to enjoy the whole experience! It was the best holiday we have ever had!

General Comments
We very much enjoyed the breakfasts at the first Toyoko Inn that we stayed at in Tokyo and were a little disappointed to find that the breakfasts varied quite a lot at the other Inns - sometimes there was very little choice. However, some of our holiday highlights were the meals provided at the guest houses on Koya San and in Iya Valley!

As the holiday was handled by 3 travel consultants the communication of each hand over was poor which lead to disappointing consequences for our holiday e.g. asked for Mt Fuji mountain hut at time of booking (2 years ago),was a mix up that lead to us not having a mountain hut booking and ultimatley not making the summit.Sent up one of the most difficult trials with hardly any huts so there was no accommodation available. On more than one occasion communication with Ben Morrow was very poor, email corresponce from the point of hand over from Maddy Roddell and during holiday I requested help from my travel consultant, I never heard from him and no message was passed onto him on my behalf. Japan office tried to help but their English was limited. It seemed like the message for help from me was only communicated to Ben and when he didnt respond, no-body else knew that I was in trouble in Japan until I emailed Harry where he had taken over (consultant number 4). No communication. Could have averted all of this by emailing or phoning me saying Darren Ben is sick and Vivienne has gone on holiday so if you have any problems could you phone or email Harry.

Accommdation in Hakone - bathroom was disgusting, dirty and smelled like urine. Visible dirt caked behind toilet seat lid. Would definately object to styaing here again Comfort hotel in Nara was vile

Food was fantastic, loved the family run accommodation best. It would have been helpful to know we didnt need to take a toilet kit with us as shampoo etc was all provided at each accommodation . Could have saved space in our luggage. Also tell clients to take small suitcases as these fit in the many luggage lockers at stations as this means you can see more on the days you travel.

Good point about taking a toilet kit - most accommodation in Japan is very helpful in that respect, and a lot of items are usually provided free of charge.
