The annual Wanderlust travel awards are voted for by the magazine’s 150,000 subscribers in a range of categories from Top Country to Top Travel Equipment Brand. Having not previously featured in the top ten countries to visit, Japan shot into first place with a 97.4% visitor satisfaction rating. With more people than ever before holidaying in Japan in 2008, the profile of Japan as a destination for UK holidaymakers has increased greatly since the country was showcased by hosting the FIFA World Cup in 2002.
