Eclipse of the Century
On the 22nd July 2009, Eclipse chasers from all over the world will be descending upon Japan to witness one of nature’s most spectacular displays. The total solar eclipse will be the longest of the 21st Century lasting for just under seven minutes seen at its most impressive from some of Japan’s smaller islands in the Pacific Ocean.
The event is sure to amaze anyone but in an area known for its rapidly changing weather conditions the spectacles full glory is always threatened with the prospect of clouds in the sky. Japanese company, Kintestu International have come up with a plan to avoid the clouds and get the best possible view of the eclipse in its totality by chartering the entire Nipponmaru cruise ship! The 2 night cruise will begin from the port of Kagoshima on Japan’s southern island of Kyushu where you will set sail for the Tokara Islands. The ship will anchor off the island of Suwanose where it is expected you will have the best and longest view in the world of the eclipse in its totality. The cruise comes at a fair price but if you are serious about a once in a lifetime experience then you will need to book yourself direct on to the “Eclipse Cruiseliner” – http://www.knt.co.jp/eclipse/index_e.html You will need to get your application in quick to be in with a chance of a place on board the ship allowing you to witness this stunning natural display. Eclipse chasers from all over the world are going crazy for this out-of this-world event and booking up all accommodation and transport in the south of Japan where the eclipse will be visible at varying degrees. Although Inside Japan Tours cannot book your place on the cruise, we do have access to a range of traditional and western style accommodation across the country enabling you to get the best chance of witnessing the total eclipse in the Land of the Rising Sun.
